What I Will Be Watching – February 17th, 2009

17 Feb

Today the 17th of February was supposed to be the national day to switch to digital TV, but alas that won’t happen to June 13th. There is a catch, your local broadcasters are allowed to switch today. So make sure to check with your local stations to make sure you are ready. Nonetheless, there is some TV worth watching tonight….

Leverage

Leverage

Leverage – 10/9c on TNT  Since December, Nate Ford and his crew have really grown on me. Now on part one of the season finale, I really hope they go out with a bang. Leverage starts its first season decline with hour one tonight but the real finale ends next week. The finale surrounds Nate and his arch enemies, the insurance guy Sterling (Mark Shepard) and the person that really made his son die played by Kevin Tighe (Lost). Should be great!

American Idol – 8/7c on FOX  The voting begins!  The first 12 of 36 contestants perform tonight with three moving forward tomorrow and nine are eliminated (they might get thru when it is wild card night). The first group is: Casey Carlson, Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, Ricky Braddy, Ann Marie Boskovitch, Stevie Wright, Anoop Desai, Tatiana Del Torro, Jackie Tohn, Brent Keith Smith, Alexis Grace, Stephen Fowler. Personally, I am looking foward to Anne Marie Boskovitch, Jackie Tohn, Casey Carlson, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, and Alexis Grace. That is double the amount that can go through. Dang, but lets just hope America gets rid of Tatiana. Please!

The Mentalist – 9/8c on CBS  I have seen this week’s Mentalist (thanks Canada!) and it is a great one. It is all about the dangerous world of country clubs and the murders that happen in them. Also there is some drug trafficking involved. This will be the last one for a couple weeks and Kyle XY’s Marguerite MacIntyre is in it too!

Homeland Security USA – 8/7c on ABC  I urge you check out this really fascinating docudrama about the real live people that keep us safe. It is a great alternative if you are not a fan of American Idol.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit – 10/9c on NBC  When NBC announced that old ADA Alex Cabot played by the amazing Stephanie March was going to return they said February 17th. But in the press release, there was no mention of the awesome gal. I am taking there word for it and recording the far superior L&O. Here is to the return of the best lawyer in NYC!

Fringe

Fringe

Fringe:  I love Fringe. This episode put me over the edge.  It had an awesomely cool scary case and had overall character and plot developments.  We got more into Olivia’s personal life with her sister Rachel, who played by Ari Graynor looks similar to Ana Torv, and we got to look into Walter’s past with the mother of the girl he killed. Which created a great scene for John Noble. On Twitter, people were commenting on how much a like Chuck taking in the intersect on Chuck looked like the opening of this episode. That was the first thought that came into my mind. I only wish Zachary Levi was the guy on Fringe. My only problem, no Blair Brown as Nina Sharp, where is she? Well, there is always next week.

Leverage:  I don’t know about this show anymore. I enjoy it but it is starting to get old or maybe that was just this week’s episode. I didn’t not feel connected this week like I did previously and I think that was partly because of the client. It was great to see  Sam Anderson on TV as something other than Bernard. Not that much more to say, other than I hope it gets better.

Homeland Security USA

Homeland Security USA

Scrubs:  Funny, funny stuff. Scrubs this season has been consistently funny and I have enjoyed each episode. Last night, was no exception. I love Sesame Street. The gang stopped bye  to help out the docs and I was so happy. I loved when Grover and Elmo were there especially.  The first episode was definitely funny that the second partly because of Ed. He is super funny and I know that the actor who plays him was cast in the Amy Poheler comedy, so we will be seeing him again soon. I love the interns, and they could hold the show next season.

Homeland Security USA:  I might be the only one, but again and again I am surprised by the things they find in the various spots around the country. My favorite part of the show, they go around the country showing something different in each one.

American Idol:  I have a problem with the producers and how they edited this show. After each day on American Idol, they show all the people who got golden tickets, but only one or two of them we actually see audition.  Of all the bad auditions, why can’t they show the ten good ones. Please. On the brighter side, the good auditions they do show, are good. I really enjoyed the girl at the end who sang “Bubbly.”  She reminds me of my absolute favorite Brooke White from last year. Hope to see her succeed!

Tuesday TV brings us the return of teen drama, real world adventures, and crazy docs. Here are my best bets….

Homeland Security USA – 8/7c on ABC  Check this one out! I am telling you. It is a great look into what keeps us safe and it is really interesting. Each episode goes to a new place in the country and there is something crazy in each one. Tonight, Miami TSA agents are befuddled by a piece of cargo.

Scrubs

Scrubs

Scrubs – 9/8c on ABC  The comedy is back for another two episodes after a week off for the inauguration. The Muppets play a role in the first 30 minutes, when Turk is having problems they come to help and I am sure it will be crazy and stupid as usual.  In the second, JD and Elliot try to keep there new romance alive again.

American Idol – 8/7c on FOX  I have liked this season, much in the minority. Tonight, more bad auditions and some good ones. After a couple weeks, I love Kara, she is a great judge and a welcomed addition to me. Another thing, why does FOX fail to tell us which city they will be in? You have to wait to the episode airs to find out.

Fringe – 9/8c on FOX  After last week’s great episode (it got mixed reactions from others), the drama is back for at least awhile. Fringe will go of the air for over a month when American Idol become two-hours on Tuesday for the Top 36 and Top 12. For now, I am wondering where is Nina Sharp (Blair Brown)? I love her, and she is a series regular, yet she has barely been in anything lately. Tonight,  a car salesman is found dead…in GOO! Of course, the trio is on the case of the mystery!

Leverage

Leverage

Leverage – 10/9c on TNT  The one thing I hear about Leverage at least in the online world is why are they airing the episodes out of order? Frankly, I don’t really care. The one time that it was actually impacted for me to know, was when they talked about Elliot’s old fiance. Now from all I tell, the episodes will air in order! This week, it is “The Snow Job” and Nate’s drinking gets in the way of the team scamming a constructing company.

Last night, was all about the teen drama, and the fun auditions, plus some crack-downs, beat-downs, and the docs!  But unfortunately, my DVR broke and did not record Homeland, 90210, Privilged, and The Mentalist. 90210 replays tonight so I will watch it then, I have watch everything else online and my reviews are up!

Scrubs:  Funny, Funny stuff. I love this show brings in wild and crazy side docs just to mess with out favorite docs.  Courtney Cox is awesome and I am really looking forward to her role near the season finale. The news however was not that good of the show. The show against American Idol only got 4.08 million viewers, that is over 2 million less than last week. Not good! Lets hope more people come back to the show!

Leverage:  The premise of the heist each week showcase how funny and great this show is. The wedding job was great and I love how they leave how they do some stuff until the very end so we are surprised. I loved Parker this week because she was out of her element, that is when she rocks. One of the best parts for me was first seeing Nicole Sullivan because I love her and the little stint that 2 members did in the FBI truck great scene!

American Idol:  For me, American Idol is usually not my cup of tea until the Top 24 (or Top 36 this year), but I decided to tune in tonight purely for Kara DiGuardio and boy was that fun. There was of course great auditions (a couple of the young teens), and bad (everything else), and there was judging blow-ups. I loved the bikini girl fight, and I think this could be a revamp for the aging show.

The Mentalist: A great episode that the case really showcased the mentalist side of Jane. That really all I have to say. Remember, there is all new special episode of The Mentalist on Sunday after the AFC Championship Game on CBS.

Homeland Security USA: I might just be ignorant but I never thought this kind of stuff happened to this degree.  The man with the skull was just weird and I think he was just an unlucky guy that was just stupid in taking a human skull. I was suprised that the officer at JFK did not know about Oxycotton. I thought that was a drug addicts take from Lost when Jack took it when he was in the flash-forward in season 3.  The real tragedy was the child-smuggling, it is real sad that people do that to a child, but this case did end up being a bust.

Privileged:  This I take it is a classic episode of Privileged. I only say that because Privileged isn’t gone but when it is after a long life, this will be a classic. It had family drama, relationships, humor, school, a lot of Megan, and a episode that changed the plot a lot. I knew Sharon Lawrence was only going to be on for a couple episodes, but I wish she didn’t have to go. I really hope she comes back soon. Dave Franco was so great as the geek boyfriend to Rose and I hope they really continue that relationships.  Sage and Luis is classic young love, and I know that will end badly but it is fun to watch her do all the wrong things for the so-called lesser class. Finally, where is Laurel (Anne Archer) has she just disappeared. On a side note, Michael Cassidy is now credited as a “Special Guest Star.”

What I Will Be Watching – January 13th, 2009

13 Jan

What  I will be watching tonight (sorry for the light post, LIFE)…..

90210 – 8/7c on The CW Tonight, Tabitha stirs up trouble again. Oh how I love that character, she gives Annie and Dixon a car without asking and Adrianna shares her secrets!

Privileged

Privileged

Privileged - 9/8c on The CW  This show is brilliant and you should be watching. You still have a chance, there is still a couple episodes left. I promise you will love it, so watch!  Tonight, Megan has to help Lily out of jail and Sage tries to impress Luis again.

Homeland Security  USA – 8/7c on ABC  If you watch this docu-drama, I promise you will be amazed at what goes on at our borders and tonight is no exception. On this hour in the life of the agents, some find a human skull. I am intrigued!

The Mentalist – 9/8c on CBS The #1 drama is new and this case is about a football stud, a witch, and a cat. Sounds right up Jane and the teams alley (pun intended)!

Scrubs – 9/8c on ABC  Courtney Cox is back at the end of her 3 episode stint (she will be back at the end of the season) as Dr. Maddox in the first half-hour. The docs today encounter some troubles with Kelso that need attention!

Kara DioGuardi

Kara DioGuardi

American Idol – 8/7c on FOX I have saved the biggest for last. The juggernaut returns and with a new judge, Kara Dioguardi. Of course the first week is all bad auditions that I usually don’t watch until Hollywood Week, but with the new judge I might actually have to!
