Rockin' Wednesday: Human Target, Scrubs, Psych, and High Society

10 Mar

Some great things to talk about:

Scrubs – 8/7c on ABC What will most certainly be the penultimate episode of this once fantastical funny series airs tonight part of the ABC comedy Wednesday. Last year’s “My Finale,” was one of the best series finales for a comedy I have ever seen and it is just a shame it did not end there but here’s to having Eliza Coupe back on my TV again soon! Also on ABC, is a very funny The Middle guest starring Alexa Vega’s Axel’s gal-pal in a very funny role, Judy Greer guests on the Middle, and Cougar Town gets ready for Sheryl Crow next week!

Human Target – 8/7c on FOX I have checked out the next two episode’s of the FOX action drama that has been garnering modest ratings before the powerhouse that is AI. I am happy to say the show returns in a solid outing that revolves around an old friend of Chance in a Central American country and lets just say things get very explosive in the best possible way. Next week however is stellar, with Agent Barnes (Emmanuelle Vaugier) returning to help Chance catch an old friend turner killer (Lennie James). Great hour you will have to check out.

Psych – 10/9c on USA Psych did a season finale right last year (evidence is here) and that streak continuous tonight in a killer episode entitled, “Mr. Yin Presents…” It is a follow-up to last year’s serial killer-after-Shawn episode which found his mom being controlled by Mr. Yang aka Ally Sheedy (She plays a great psychopath). She returns tonight as the crew goes after her accomplice who is once again tormenting Shawn and his friends. The episode is also one for you love lovers. Both Shawn and Juliet get some powerful moments in the episode which just left me loving this show like never before, and just craving new episodes which arrive this August. Must-see TV if anything is tonight!

High Society – 9:30/8:30c on The CW Check out my clip post from last week and now that I have seen the first two episodes I can say it is a fun guilty pleasure. I know that term has really been thrown around lately but this is one. It contains drugs, love, fights, happiness, and angry, what more could you want? Tinsley Mortimer, the socialite it surrounds, is charming, and her friends (Paul, most of all) are pretty dang crazy. You might want to check this one out!

What was on last night? Well here is what was, and how it was….

Fringe:  This is the perfect example of a show that was going in as a hyped up series, performed okay, had problems, fixed them, and is must see TV.  The major problem with Fringe going to the new year was that, why should we care about the main character Olivia? All we had seen of her was a woman that was angry because her boyfriend is a traitor. Doesn’t that happen to a lot of people?  Now as soon as we got from the break, we got a little piece of her personal life with her sister and niece. Now as we come to the end of the mid-winter stint, we care about Olivia, we want her to succeed and that was what made this week’s episode so great. It was all about Olivia and her mysterious connection to The Pattern. My theory: Olivia was part of an experiment with someone when she was a child, that is why she was given that medicine that Nina Sharp talked about, and why Dr. Jones is fascinated by her. Well, that is my stupid theory. Overall, this episode was awesome, everybody had great parts, there was drama, and emotional moments. Too bad the show won’t be back until April 7th.

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert

American Idol:  Wow! There was actually singing, 27 performances to be exact. My favorite of course was Adam Lambert. He has vocals and I am worried that because people know him as “the Wicked boy” it will hurt him in the end. Of course, there was other great ones too. I love Danny Gokey, except for the fact that he exploits the fact his wife has died. Another surprise contestant was Scott McIntyre, the blind piano player that did a great rendition of “Home.” I am really excited for this season, and tomorrow should be a powerful episode if  it was only one hour, but alas two. Also, I do not like the new Top 36 format, and the producers will see it was a mistake soon.

90210:  A lot of improving shows on last night. 90210 has also improved greatly in thanks in part to the more powerful and hard-hitting story-lines. Adrianna story is the best even though it was noticably absent tonight. Jessica Lowndes has such a great potrayl of the ex-drugged up preggo teen that makes her so real. Also, Silver is become more tolerable with her love for Dixon, even though I don’t really like their relationship. A couple pluses in the episode, it was nice to Matt Lanter again, I have always liked him throughout the years, also the sorta end of Annie and Ethan who are so bad together, and on the opposite end the reuniting of Navid and Adrianna!  90210 does not return until March 31st at 9/8c, so get ready for some Tori Spelling!

What I Will Be Watching – February 3rd, 2009

3 Feb

With that full load last night, will tonight be as big. Here is all the details…..

Anna Torv & Mark Valley; Fringe

Anna Torv & Mark Valley; Fringe

Fringe – 9/8c on FOX  Well, here is a surprise. Two of Fringe’s stars got married for real this weekend. Anna Torv (Olvia) and Mark Valley (John Scott) got hitched. That is a shocker to me and I think to the rest of the world. Were they even engaged? I don’t think so. Back to the episode on hand. The producers promise that we will finally get the answers to what is up with the dead traitor and I think Massive Dynamics has a lot to do with it. In this episode entitled “The Transformation” another one of those airborne viruses go out and it requires Olivia and Peter to go undercover to help Walter get to the bottom of it.

American Idol – 8/7c on FOX  HOLLYWOOD WEEK! It is finally here. After three weeks of the mostly bad auditions, the 100 or so best contestants get to flex their vocals in front of the four judges and this time it is at the Kodak Theatre. Pressure! Hollywood Week will be expanded this year as people have continually said it is one of the best weeks of the show.  I love the end episode that people have to walk down that long walk to hear there judgement about the Top 36. Speaking of the Top 36, here is the list that has been leaked. SPOILER ALERT in this link.

Aimee Teegarden

Aimee Teegarden

90210 – 8/7c on The CW  A lot of things will be happening tonight at the zip. First, Ty (Adam Gregory) learns that he is the daddy of Adrianna’s baby.  Plus, the Ethan and Annie relationship hits a snag. I really hope it is more than a snag. It happens because Friday Night Light’s Aimee Teegarden starts here reoccurring role as Rhonda, a friend of Ethan’s.

Scrubs – 9/8c on ABC  Cox is in a bind in the two episodes that air tonight. Reminder: March 18th is the day Scrubs switch to Wednesdays at 8/7c. Cox gets a new job as the chief and he needs to enlist help by old chief, his arch nemesis Kelso. Should be hilarious. This season has been on fire and it looks like it will for sure be the last. That does open up for a new show to go into ABC’s awesome development slate this year, and more on that at a later date.

Leverage – 10/9c on TNT  Did you hear the news? Leverage has been renewed for a 15 episode second season to air at the end of the air. Great news huh. Hopefully they will actually air the episodes in order this time around. While tonight as the first season winds down, the Leverage team is on “the 12-Step Job” and that entails taking down a shady broker who has been scamming charities.

A Hot Tip:

Hopkins – 10/9c on WEtv  Back in the summer ABC aired a real life Grey’s Anatomy as they called it. It was entitled Hopkins. It was the story of John Hopkins, the giant hospital in Baltimore. It followed the stories of the doctors, interns, and residents that help the patients around the state and the country! The was so raw and real, and very emotional when it aired, I urge you to take a look. WEtv is re-airing the show throughout the week and there is an episode tonight. If you check it out, you will be hooked!

Fringe

Fringe

Fringe:  I love Fringe. This episode put me over the edge.  It had an awesomely cool scary case and had overall character and plot developments.  We got more into Olivia’s personal life with her sister Rachel, who played by Ari Graynor looks similar to Ana Torv, and we got to look into Walter’s past with the mother of the girl he killed. Which created a great scene for John Noble. On Twitter, people were commenting on how much a like Chuck taking in the intersect on Chuck looked like the opening of this episode. That was the first thought that came into my mind. I only wish Zachary Levi was the guy on Fringe. My only problem, no Blair Brown as Nina Sharp, where is she? Well, there is always next week.

Leverage:  I don’t know about this show anymore. I enjoy it but it is starting to get old or maybe that was just this week’s episode. I didn’t not feel connected this week like I did previously and I think that was partly because of the client. It was great to see  Sam Anderson on TV as something other than Bernard. Not that much more to say, other than I hope it gets better.

Homeland Security USA

Homeland Security USA

Scrubs:  Funny, funny stuff. Scrubs this season has been consistently funny and I have enjoyed each episode. Last night, was no exception. I love Sesame Street. The gang stopped bye  to help out the docs and I was so happy. I loved when Grover and Elmo were there especially.  The first episode was definitely funny that the second partly because of Ed. He is super funny and I know that the actor who plays him was cast in the Amy Poheler comedy, so we will be seeing him again soon. I love the interns, and they could hold the show next season.

Homeland Security USA:  I might be the only one, but again and again I am surprised by the things they find in the various spots around the country. My favorite part of the show, they go around the country showing something different in each one.

American Idol:  I have a problem with the producers and how they edited this show. After each day on American Idol, they show all the people who got golden tickets, but only one or two of them we actually see audition.  Of all the bad auditions, why can’t they show the ten good ones. Please. On the brighter side, the good auditions they do show, are good. I really enjoyed the girl at the end who sang “Bubbly.”  She reminds me of my absolute favorite Brooke White from last year. Hope to see her succeed!

News from ABC: Scheduling the Comedies!

26 Jan

Today, ABC has finally announced where two of there new comedies will land on the network’s schedule. Two very hilarious comdies, one that I have seen, one I haven’t will be airing this March with two of ABC’s semi-successful comedies. Here is the news:

Better Off Ted

Better Off Ted

Beginning March 18th, Scrubs will launch the new ABC laffer Better Off Ted starring Jay Harrington. This means that they will replace the Wednesday’s at 8 repeat of the previous week’s lost. The date is perfect. This is the week that many speculate that American Idol will switch to 9 and move Lie to Me at 8. Less Competition!  Better Off Ted is amazing, that is all I have to say. It is pee your pants funny. I really hope it succeeds.

In the Motherhood

In the Motherhood

Beginning on March 26th, Ugly Betty will disappear for awhile. Instead, the new comedy In the Motherhood will air at 8/7c followed by the Christina Applegate laffer Samantha Who?. From the promo I posted earlier, Motherhood will be hilarious and it is great to see Megan Mullaly and Cheryl Hines on TV again! The competition will be semi light. NBC has My Name is Earl/Kath & Kim for awhile, which both have been faltering, on CBS the always good Survivor, on FOX and The CW, Bones and Smallville. Go ABC comedy!
